I believe that the apostolic church of the first century was keenly aware of the realities of the spiritual “powers” of darkness and spiritual “forces” of evil. If the Church (the Ekklesia) today is to regain its apostolicity, it will need to recover this spiritual awareness in her true God-given calling. Suffice to say that those who desire to be involved in the Lord’s eternal purpose of “the manifold wisdom of God now being made known through the church to the rulers and the authorities in the heavenly places” (Ephesians 3:10-11),will need to cease from the distraction and dissipation of “speaking truth” to earthly governments and politicians and refocus themselves and their energies to “speaking truth” to spiritual “powers” of darkness and “forces” of evil “in the heavenly places”.
