The purpose of this article is to offer a possible explanation of a phrase found in the apostle Paul’s second letter to the Thessalonians – “The Mystery of Iniquity (or Lawlessness)”. In the process, other phrases like “Satan is Bound” and “He who Restrains” will be identified to explain the context surrounding “The Mystery of Iniquity”.
This is the premise of the article: Can Satan be literally bound but his established spiritual influence continues on in the world by spirit beings and human beings? Is this possibly what Paul was referring to with his phrase, “the mystery of iniquity which is already at work”
